Cost Function

In CircuitShepherd you can define target values for simulation results. This implicitly defines the cost function shown in the image below. CircuitShepherd’s realtime optimizer tunes your “auto-parameters” (here also called “auto-values”) to minimize the sum of all cost functions.

Cost function graph: a parabola centered on targetValue, with cost 0 at the target and cost 1 at the edge of the tolerance band, where tolerance = max(absTol, |targetValue| · relTol / 100%)
